Cyanobacteria detected in Finnish lakes Sastamala and Säkylä

Environmental monitoring in Finland recorded the presence of cyanobacteria (blue‑green algae) at two sites: Pororanta on Liekovesi in Sastamala and Yttilän Otta in Köyliönjärvi, Säkylä. Both locations showed only slight concentrations.

Water‑surface temperatures measured at the sites were +20.5 °C at Liekovesi and +21.5 °C at Houhajärvi, slightly above the national average of +20 °C. Observers are encouraged to report additional findings to the Järvi‑MeriWiki database.
