Cyberabad Traffic Police arrest 80 for drunk driving
Cyberabad Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement campaign against drunk driving on September 18 and 19, resulting in the arrest of 80 individuals. The group includes 62 two-wheeler riders, 16 car drivers, and two auto-rickshaw drivers.
Blood alcohol tests revealed that 63 individuals had levels between 36 and 200 mg per 100 ml, significantly exceeding the permitted limit of 30 mg per 100 ml. Additionally, nine individuals recorded levels between 201 and 300 mg, while eight others recorded levels between 301 and 550 mg. All suspects will be presented in court.
Authorities noted that driving under the influence is a serious offense. Under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, individuals causing fatal accidents while intoxicated could face up to 10 years in prison and fines.
