Cyberattacks rise 48% amid growing AI data exposure risks
Cybersecurity attacks against companies rose 48% in September 2026 compared to the previous year, according to Check Point Research. Organizations globally faced an average of 2,803 weekly attacks, with Latin America recording the highest frequency at 3,813 weekly incidents.
The study highlights significant risks regarding generative artificial intelligence. In Latin America, one in 25 interactions with AI tools presented a high risk of sensitive information exposure. Approximately 89% of organizations regularly using generative AI reported at least one high-risk interaction involving financial data, legal records, IT infrastructure configurations, or personal information.
Separately, the Experis ‘CIO 2026 Outlook’ study, based on 1,930 global technology leaders, indicates that Chief Information Officers are increasingly focused on aligning technology strategy with business objectives. While 48% of leaders now prioritize this alignment, the perceived effectiveness of this alignment has dropped from 80% in 2025 to 77% in 2026. The rapid pace of technological evolution remains a primary barrier for 44% of respondents, and 61% of technology leaders report that other organizational leaders lack a clear understanding of the IT department's mission.
