Cyberpunk 2077 receives new immersive third-person perspective mod
A new mod for the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077, titled ‘Immersive Third Person – Best of Both Worlds’ by creator CybrDrake, has been released on Nexus Mods. The mod allows players to switch seamlessly between first-person and third-person perspectives.
Unlike previous community attempts that struggled with asynchronous movement, this mod features completely overhauled animations for the female protagonist, Valerie, covering actions such as jumping, jogging, sprinting, and climbing. While the male character currently uses standard animations, updates are expected. The mod also includes a customizable camera system, allowing users to save up to five preferred positions, including shoulder-view angles similar to Resident Evil 4.
The project highlights technical possibilities that challenge previous developer stances. While CD Projekt Red has previously cited immersion concerns as a reason for not implementing a perspective switch, the mod demonstrates that a functional system is achievable through independent animation sets. This development has drawn community attention toward the technical standards expected for the studio’s upcoming sequel, Project Orion.
