Cyberpunk 2077 third-person perspective mod release

Overview

A new PC mod for Cyberpunk 2077, titled ‘Immersive Third Person – Best of Both Worlds’ by creator CybrDrake, has been released to allow players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives.

To avoid the unnatural movement seen in previous community attempts, the mod utilizes overhauled animation sets. The female protagonist, Valerie, features rebuilt animations for actions such as jumping, jogging, sprinting, and climbing. The male character currently uses standard animations with planned updates. The system includes a customizable camera that can save up to five positions and an automatic feature that reverts to first-person during combat, driving, and cutscenes.

While CD Projekt Red previously cited immersion concerns as a reason for not including a perspective switch, this mod demonstrates the technical feasibility of the feature. The development has drawn community attention toward the technical standards for the studio’s upcoming sequel, Project Orion.
