Cybersecurity and regulation impact EU financial and business sectors

A recent SARE report highlights that 55% of financial sector representatives view communication security as a major challenge. Approximately 85% of respondents believe cybersecurity threats and fraud risks significantly impact how they interact with clients. Key customer expectations include rapid response (68%), simplicity (56%), and security (53%). Additionally, 88% of those surveyed noted that regulations and compliance heavily influence client communication methods.

In the broader context of EU cybersecurity, the implementation of regulations such as the NIS2 directive and the DORA regulation is helping to build economic resilience. While CERT Polska recorded 31,200 security incidents in July 2026—a 12% increase from the previous year—74% of organizations view these EU legal norms positively. About 55% of organizations reported improved security and reduced IT risk due to these regulations, while 58% noted increased awareness among management and staff regarding digital threats.
