Cybersecurity expert warns of risks in sharing children's photos online
Cybersecurity expert Vanessa González, Director of Communication at Kaspersky Iberia, has raised concerns regarding the digital identity of minors being shaped by family members without their consent. According to the Kaspersky study, ‘Sharenting: Privacidad infantil y convivencia familiar en la era digital en España’, 15% of minors in Spain have already requested that their parents or grandparents refrain from taking or sharing their photos.
González emphasizes that sharing images of children on social media or with acquaintances can inadvertently reveal sensitive information, such as locations, routines, schools, and family environments. Experts recommend involving children in conversations about their digital footprint as they grow older to ensure they have a say in how their likeness is used online.
