According to the Vodafone Foundation, 47% of parents boast about their children's photos online, and 51% share information that could be used to locate a child. Furthermore, 27% of parents have shared inappropriate or revealing images. In the Czech Republic, police warn that these images can facilitate cyberbullying, blackmail, or exploitation, noting that parents often underestimate long-term consequences. While only 11% of parents seek permission before posting, 24% never do so.

In response to these vulnerabilities, new resources are emerging. The RODIcheck tool, a collaboration between Vodafone and the Czech Police, allows parents to upload up to 10 photos to receive an analysis of why certain images might be unsafe for public sharing.

In Spain, cybersecurity expert Vanessa González of Kaspersky Iberia continues to emphasize that minors' digital identities are often shaped without their consent. A Kaspersky study, ‘Sharenting: Privacidad infantil y convivencia familiar en la era digital en España’, found that 15% of Spanish minors have already requested that family members refrain from sharing their photos. Experts maintain that involving children in discussions about their digital footprint is essential to ensuring they have agency over their online likeness.
