Cybersecurity experts advocate for AI-driven security and SASE architecture
Industry experts are highlighting the necessity of evolving cybersecurity architectures to combat emerging threats driven by artificial intelligence.
In South Africa, Fortinet’s Brett Salovy argued that traditional ‘stitched-together’ security solutions are inadequate for modern risks. He advocated for Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) as a superior architectural approach to replace outdated VPNs, while warning of potential ‘hidden costs’ such as increased technical skill requirements and vendor troubleshooting complexities.
In the Middle East, EVAD CEO Abdullah A. Qaisi emphasized that AI is simultaneously transforming IT infrastructure and increasing the sophistication of cyber threats. Speaking regarding GISEC Global 2026, Qaisi noted that strengthening regional cyber resilience requires closer collaboration between governments, enterprises, and technology vendors to protect critical data and infrastructure.
