Cybersecurity incidents reported in Czechia and Lithuania
Cybersecurity agencies in the Czech Republic and Lithuania have reported varying trends in cyber incidents. In the Czech Republic, the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) recorded 26 incidents in September, marking the third-highest monthly total in the past year. These incidents primarily targeted schools and public administration, with most classified as less severe. The majority involved unauthorized access to user accounts, web portals, and email or cloud services.
In Lithuania, the National Cyber Security Centre (NKSC) reported 2,888 incidents, a 25 percent decrease compared to the previous year. However, experts warn that official statistics may underrepresent the true scale of threats, as many companies do not report breaches or remain unaware of them. Over 54 percent of registered incidents in Lithuania involved social engineering, where attackers use manipulation to deceive individuals.
