Cyclone Brings Heavy Rain, Strong Winds and Fallen Trees to Russia and Serbia

A powerful cyclonic system produced intense rain, thunder and gusty winds across parts of Russia and Serbia. In Moscow, about 50 trees were uprooted, including 11 that fell on vehicles, while no injuries were reported. Similar damage was noted in St Petersburg, where flood‑relief crews worked to clear water and debris.

In Serbia, the storm hit the Belgrade area with heavy downpours, thunderstorms and occasional strong gusts. Meteorologists issued short‑term warnings and advised residents to stay updated on forecasts. Rainfall totals approached typical monthly averages within hours, prompting local authorities to monitor drainage systems and advise caution near trees and parked cars.
