Cyprus and Greece conduct emergency response exercises
Cyprus and Greece are conducting separate large-scale emergency response exercises to enhance crisis management and inter-agency cooperation.
In Cyprus, the police will hold the ‘CHRYSO 2026’ counter-terrorism exercise at the Central Bank of Cyprus on October 16, 2026. This full-scale field drill aims to simulate realistic operational conditions, evaluate security measures, and test the coordination between the Cyprus Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Service, and the Central Bank’s security unit. The exercise will involve the use of non-lethal blanks.
Simultaneously, Greece and Cyprus are collaborating on the ‘SYNASPIS 2026’ exercise in the semi-mountainous region of Andros, Greece. This drill simulates a mass casualty event involving a tourist bus accident. The operation focuses on testing the interoperability and communication between the Special Medical Disaster Department (ETIK) of EKAB and the Cyprus Ambulance Service’s HART team, specifically regarding triage, rescue, and medical transport in difficult terrain.
