Cyprus Deputy Minister Irene Piki urges unity to seize diplomatic window on Cyprus issue
Deputy Minister Irene Piki addressed the official memorial for the victims of the 1974 Turkish invasion at the Metropolitan Church of the Savior in Larnaca. She called for the diplomatic window on the Cyprus question to be used with unity, seriousness and national confidence, stressing that the sacrifice of the 1974 heroes can be honored only through ending the occupation, achieving liberation and reunifying the island.
Piki reiterated the government’s commitment to resume direct UN‑backed negotiations, noted the increased interest of the European Union, and highlighted a serious initiative for restarting talks that has been recognised by the international community. She also affirmed the President’s pledge that resolving the Cyprus issue remains a top priority for the administration.
