Cyprus Deputy Minister Marilena Raouna pledges EU Presidency funds to boost the Republic

Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna announced that Cyprus will invest the capital generated by its six‑month EU Council Presidency to further strengthen the Republic and its citizens. She highlighted the Presidency’s achievements, noting participation in 70 negotiations and the handling of 32 legislative files, of which 27 were completed – an 85 % success rate. Among the outcomes was an agreement to enhance aviation rights, and she stressed the Presidency’s focus on EU autonomy in defence, security, competitiveness, economy, energy and social cohesion.

Raouna praised the extensive organization of roughly 300 meetings, including the first informal summit of EU leaders hosted in Cyprus, and emphasized the country's strategic geographic position and strong regional ties. She reiterated that the coordination mechanisms established during the Presidency will continue into a new cycle, with the invested funds aimed at delivering tangible results for Cyprus and its people.
