Cyprus House Speaker Nikolas Papadopoulos says Turkey shows no positive stance on settlement

Nikolas Papadopoulos, president of Cyprus' House of Representatives, praised the recent visit of the United Nations Secretary‑General, describing it as historic and noting the UN chief’s announcement of an expanded international conference aimed at restarting negotiations on a functional, sustainable solution for Cyprus.

He criticised the Turkish Foreign Ministry for “negative” positions and for continuing expansion beyond the green line, and welcomed President Nicos Christodoulides’ call for a more active EU role, saying the EU has the means and political will to provide incentives or disincentives to Turkey to encourage a change in its intransigent stance.
