Cyprus Police conduct nationwide overnight crime prevention operation
Cyprus Police conducted a coordinated overnight nationwide operation across key urban areas to prevent serious crime and maintain public order. The crackdown resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals for various offenses, including illegal stay, possession of drugs, carrying knives or offensive weapons, burglary tool possession, public drunkenness, and assaulting a police officer.
During the operation, authorities inspected 37 premises and conducted checks on 643 drivers and 184 passengers. Traffic enforcement efforts led to 320 citations for road violations, with 133 drivers reported for speeding. Police also impounded nine vehicles. Additionally, breathalyzer tests resulted in four drink-driving reports, and two motorists tested positive for narcotics during preliminary roadside tests. Police stated that these targeted operations will continue daily to enhance public safety.
