Cyprus police arrest four suspected members of alleged criminal network over land dispute

The Larnaca District Court, in cooperation with other police units, arrested four individuals on Wednesday after a complaint by an elderly resident. The suspects include a 44‑year‑old businessman from Larnaca, a 42‑year‑old resident of Nicosia, a 49‑year‑old lawyer already facing serious criminal cases, and a 45‑year‑old woman from a village in the Larnaca region.

Investigators say the arrests stem from allegations that between 2021 and 2024 the suspects extracted money through threats, extortion and other illegal actions linked to the sale of a farm plot owned by the complainant. The accused are being investigated for participation in a criminal organization, conspiracy to commit felonies, extortion, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and money‑laundering. Evidence was collected from premises associated with the suspects, and they have been remanded before the Larnaca District Court pending further investigation.
