Cyprus police checkpoints detain 31 drivers for drunken driving

Police carried out organized checkpoint operations across Cyprus, stopping 684 vehicles and checking 870 occupants. The raids resulted in the seizure of 14 cars and the detention of 31 drivers who were found to be under the influence of alcohol. In addition, ten individuals were arrested for offenses such as illegal drug possession, illegal residence and other violations. The operation also included 206 alcohol tests, 31 related complaints, and 35 preliminary drug tests, one of which returned a positive result.

The extensive patrols were aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and enhancing citizens' sense of safety.
