Cyprus Police Conduct Massive Nighttime Traffic Checks, Arrest Three

The Cyprus Police carried out organized night patrols across the island aimed at crime prevention and maintaining public order. During the operation 895 vehicles were stopped and 1,125 drivers and passengers were examined. Parallel immigration checks on 71 vehicles resulted in 16 complaints.

Traffic inspections generated 309 violations, including 80 cases of excessive speed. Alcohol testing was performed on 466 drivers, with 33 testing positive, and four narcotics tests revealed three positive results. Authorities also seized 22 vehicles. Three individuals were detained for offenses such as illegal residence and illegal employment.

The police said the intensified presence and targeted checks will continue daily to protect citizens and ensure public safety.
