Paphos police raid nets nine arrests and large drug haul

Cyprus Police, the Customs and Drugs Agency (YKAN) and the Special Operations Unit (MMAD) carried out a coordinated night‑long operation in the Paphos district on Thursday, lasting from about 4 p.m. to midnight. The raid included vehicle and motorcycle checks, as well as a court‑ordered search of an apartment.

Authorities seized 30.9 g of cannabis, 11 g of cocaine, 18 g of methamphetamine, 4 g of cannabis resin, 11 g of synthetic cannabis and two ecstasy tablets. Additional finds included eight vials of anabolic steroids, €5,510 in cash, a taser, a knife, a laughing‑gas canister and assorted nicotine products. Nine people were arrested: a 29‑year‑old driver detained after a knife was found in his car, six individuals detained in the apartment, and several others caught with small amounts of drugs during traffic checks. The detained persons face charges ranging from possession of illegal substances to facilitating investigations. The operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking and related criminal activity in the region.
