Cyprus police crackdown arrests dozen suspects and issues hundreds of traffic violations

Police conducted intensive night patrols across Cyprus, targeting urban hotspots to prevent serious crime and maintain public order. The operations resulted in the arrest of twelve individuals on offenses ranging from illegal residency and knife attacks to assault, theft and traffic violations.

Authorities stopped and inspected a combined total of about 1,200 vehicles, checking roughly 1,200 drivers and passengers. They carried out 42 checks on illegal residents, generating multiple complaints, and recorded 376 traffic violations, including 163 instances of speeding. Alcohol screening was performed on 170 drivers, with seven testing positive, while two preliminary narcotics tests also returned positive results. Seized vehicles numbered 19 in total.
