Cyprus police crackdown results in multiple arrests during island‑wide patrols

The Cyprus Police carried out coordinated preventive patrols across the island during the night, targeting high‑risk urban areas to deter serious crime and maintain public order. The operations led to the detention of six individuals in two reports and twelve individuals in a separate report, covering offenses such as illegal drug possession, family violence, illegal residency, burglary, theft, knife assaults and causing bodily injury.

During the patrols, 358 vehicles were stopped in the first set of operations (and 446 in the later one), with a total of 440 people checked in the first and 574 drivers and passengers in the second. Traffic checks generated dozens of citations for speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and other violations, and resulted in the seizure of 13 vehicles in the first operation and three in the later one.

The police emphasised that these preventive actions will continue daily, with enhanced presence, targeted checks and immediate response to protect citizens and uphold public safety.
