Cyprus police launch island‑wide crackdown, arrest ten people

The Cyprus Police intensified their presence across the island during a night‑long operation aimed at preventing serious crimes and maintaining public order. Ten individuals were arrested on offenses ranging from illegal entry and burglary to assault on an officer, possession of weapons and drugs, and driving under the influence.

During the operation, hundreds of vehicles were stopped and drivers checked. One report noted 312 vehicles intercepted and 430 drivers examined, while another recorded 510 vehicles stopped and 639 persons inspected. Traffic checks uncovered dozens of violations, including over 60 speeding offences, several cases of drunk driving and drug‑related driving offenses, and resulted in the seizure of two to eight vehicles.

Police said the heightened patrols and targeted checks will continue daily to enhance safety and deter criminal activity.
