Cyprus Police conduct night‑time crackdown, arrest 12, cite 162 speeding violations

During a coordinated night‑time operation on Friday, the Cyprus Police carried out organized patrols across urban areas of the island. The raids resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals on charges that included illegal drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal residence, vehicle theft and malicious damage.

The operation stopped and checked 838 drivers and 348 passengers, conducted 56 checks on illegal residents (yielding six complaints), and performed 402 traffic‑related inspections. Police recorded 162 speeding violations, seized 25 vehicles, carried out 292 alcohol tests (19 violations) and four preliminary drug tests that returned positive results.
