Cyprus police night operations lead to 14 arrests, 295 traffic violations

Police across Cyprus carried out intensive night‑time patrols aimed at preventing serious crime and maintaining public order. In one series of operations, officers stopped 629 drivers and 131 passengers, made 295 traffic‑related complaints—including 83 for speeding—and seized four vehicles, resulting in eight arrests for offences such as theft, illegal residence, assault and drug possession. In a parallel sweep, 358 vehicles were checked, 440 individuals were examined, 234 traffic complaints were recorded and 13 vehicles were impounded, leading to six further arrests for drug possession, domestic violence and illegal residence. These actions are part of an ongoing programme of targeted policing and road‑safety checks intended to boost citizens’ sense of safety and enforce traffic laws on the island.
