Cyprus police prepare for Nicosia protests

The Cyprus Police announced that two public demonstrations will take place in Nicosia in June 2026. On Monday, 22 June at 18:30, a protest is scheduled outside the Legal Service, and on Wednesday, 24 June at 10:00 a protest by hourly‑paid government staff will begin outside the Ministry of Finance and then move toward the Presidential Palace. Police will be on site to maintain public order, manage traffic and enforce safety measures. The public is advised to follow officers’ directions, use alternative routes and cooperate to ensure a peaceful event.

Both gatherings are subject to Law 151(I) of 2025 on public assemblies, which obliges organizers to cooperate with authorities and gives police the power to restrict or disperse gatherings that become non‑peaceful or threaten safety.
