Cyprus police seize 1,600 cannabis products at Larnaca airport, two detained

Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and Customs officers intercepted two postal parcels arriving at Larnaca airport on 9 July, uncovering more than 1,600 cannabinoid items—including dried cannabis, cannabis‑infused foods, vape devices and gummies – weighing a total of roughly 6.9 kg. The seized material is believed to contain dangerous synthetic drugs.

The operation led to the arrest of the 30‑year‑old recipient who owns a shop in the Limassol district and a 23‑year‑old female employee. Both were remanded in custody for five days on charges of importation, possession with intent to supply and money‑laundering. Police continue investigations, examining the shop and additional evidence such as a precision scale and further cannabis products found during a follow‑up search.
