Cyprus President Christodoulides Calls for Settlement of Cyprus Conflict

President Nikos Christodoulides addressed a joint gathering of municipalities, communities and refugee organisations, reiterating that a sustainable, functional solution for Cyprus is possible if political will exists. He urged the Turkish government and Turkish‑Cypriot leadership to engage in a settlement that benefits all parties.

Christodoulides highlighted the 52‑year Turkish occupation of Kyrenia, describing it as a grave crime that violates international law and fundamental rights. He recalled the 1996 case of Titi Loizidou, the first Cypriot to hold Turkey accountable for the displacement of lawful residents, and underscored the heavy price paid by Kyrenian citizens under occupation.
