Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides Announces Pre‑Work for Expanded Conference

President Nicos Christodoulides said that pre‑work for a forthcoming expanded conference began yesterday at a technocratic level together with the European Union. He indicated that the preparatory phase will continue throughout August, aiming to create the conditions for a successful meeting that will restart stalled negotiations. Christodoulides mentioned a recent discussion with Mr. Fito, the recruitment of an academic constitutional scholar to support the talks, and the EU’s role as a guarantor on various issues, including the Euro‑Turkey matters. He emphasized that the National Council will be briefed and that the work aims to lay the groundwork for the conference’s official launch.
