Cyprus regulates fire extinguishers and traffic safety sets
The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry has declared fire extinguishers and traffic safety sets—comprising triangle reflectors, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers—as goods subject to regulation and inspection. Following instructions from Minister Hasan Taçoy, a decree prepared by the Department of Trade has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force on September 18.
Under the new regulations, products must possess specific compliance certifications to be sold. This includes CE marking, which indicates conformity with European Union product legislation, TSE certification from the Turkish Standards Institute, or an equivalent internationally recognized document.
In addition to product standards, the decree imposes obligations on points of sale. Retailers are now required to provide necessary information to consumers regarding these certified products during the sale process, ensuring that buyers are informed about the safety and compliance of the items they purchase.
