Cyprus shipping fleet grows 27% in three years

President Nikos Christodoulides announced that the Cypriot shipping fleet has grown by approximately 27% over the last three years. Speaking at the ‘THALASSA 2026’ festival in Limassol, the President highlighted that this growth is the result of a specific strategic plan.

In addition to the fleet expansion, state revenues related to ship management have increased by roughly 19% to 20%. Christodoulides emphasized the government's commitment to the maritime sector and its role in national security and the economy.

To further strengthen maritime oversight, the President stated that the Council of Ministers is expected to approve the establishment of a Coastline Unit before the end of the year, with the goal of having it operational by 2027.
