Cyprus Strengthens Security at Vasilikos Energy Center
The Cyprus government convened a high‑level meeting to present a comprehensive plan for bolstering the safety of the Vasilikos Energy Center and its surrounding area. The session, called by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, was attended by the Minister of Defense, senior officials from the police, the National Guard, the fire service, other ministries, and representatives of all companies operating in the Vasilikos zone.
The announced design focuses on prevention, operational readiness and effective coordination across land, sea and air. A key element is the creation of a Unified Coordination Center that will provide a common operational picture and streamline cooperation among all relevant agencies. The plan aims to protect human life, the environment and the critical energy, port and telecommunications infrastructure, while ensuring uninterrupted operation of the centre. Ongoing measures have already been implemented and further actions will continue to reinforce security.
