Cyprus to host Gaza Board of Peace summit, government says it is only venue

The US‑led Board of Peace will hold a two‑day summit on June 30 and July 1 in Cyprus to discuss financing and reconstruction of Gaza. Cyprus’ government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis confirmed the meeting but emphasized that the Republic of Cyprus is not organising or co‑organising the event, serving only as the venue.

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos reiterated that Cyprus has observer status with the Board, has no decision‑making role, and denied speculation about becoming a reconstruction hub. Participants are expected to include members of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, the Office of the High Representative, and international figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and others. The Board’s $17 billion pledge fund remains largely unspent, prompting concerns about financing the reconstruction plan.

Cyprus welcomed the renewed interest but noted delays caused by the broader regional conflict, and said bilateral talks during the summit may address humanitarian shipments already underway.
