Cyprus transport minister proposes replacing Limassol speed bumps with safer measures

Transport Minister Alexios Vafeadis said that, after consultations between the Limassol municipality and the Department of Public Works, "golden sections" have been identified for the city's new bicycle lanes. The proposal calls for the removal of specific speed bumps in Limassol and their replacement with alternative road‑safety measures that meet both traffic safety requirements and the needs of sustainable urban mobility.

Vafeadis noted that police recommendations have been taken into account and that the plan now awaits approval from the Limassol municipal council. Once approved, the works are expected to proceed quickly, aiming to improve safety for cyclists and motorists while addressing public concerns about the large number of speed bumps installed in the city.

The minister emphasized the importance of balancing road safety with the quality of life for residents and future generations.
