Cyprus universities launch 2026-2027 academic year

International Cyprus University (UKÜ) and Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ) held ceremonies to mark the commencement of the 2026-2027 academic year.

At the UKÜ ceremony, Prof. Dr. Halil Güven, Honorary Dean of the STEM Campus at San Diego State University, delivered the inaugural lecture titled ‘Prominent Elements of the 21st Century Economy and the Challenges of the Millennium.’ He discussed the roles of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and STEM in the future economic structure. UKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi noted the university's global rankings in Times Higher Education and UI GreenMetric.

At KSTÜ, Rector Prof. Dr. Akın Cellatoğlu emphasized that the institution's strength lies in its human resources rather than its infrastructure. He reported that the university has reached over 2,200 students across 13 programs, achieving an 85% occupancy rate for the 2026 YKS exam. Cellatoğlu highlighted how big data and artificial intelligence are reshaping educational models, particularly in integrating AI-supported diagnostics within the health sciences.
