Turkey 2026-27 school year preparation

Turkey's Ministry of National Education confirmed that the 2026‑2027 academic year will open on Monday 14 September 2026, with an orientation week for pre‑school and first‑grade students (7‑11 September) and automated registration via e‑Okul. A summer school programme in Niğde runs 1 July‑31 August 2026, and the full calendar sets the first term from 14 Sept 2026 to 25 Jan 2027, with breaks in mid‑November, late January‑early February and early March; the second term begins 8 Feb 2027 and the year ends 25 June 2027 with report‑card distribution.

Regional directorates, such as Sakarya, have carried out on‑site school inspections to verify facilities, textbook delivery and uniform policies. Provincial officials accelerated readiness: in Malatya, post‑earthquake reconstruction added 78 new schools (1,283 classrooms), reinforced 15 schools (209 classrooms) and built 1,102 additional classrooms, a 300‑bed dormitory, sports halls, workshops and teacher residences, bringing the province to 7,128 classrooms by September. In Manisa’s Sarıgöl district, the education director inspected vocational and technical high schools, an Imam Hatip high school, primary schools and a community centre, confirming building conditions, equipment and safety measures.

Local governments are also contributing. Kemer Municipality’s mayor visited the Ahmet Erkal Support Education Course, where 155 students receive free university‑exam preparation, and highlighted the municipality’s commitment to education. In the Kestel district, municipal authorities are undertaking extensive school renovations—roof repairs, fire‑safety upgrades, new doors, electrical modernisation, painting and energy‑efficiency improvements—to provide safer, more comfortable learning environments. These national and municipal actions together aim to ensure schools are ready for the new term.
