Czatolin to commemorate 85th anniversary of Cichociemni paratroopers' landing

Commemorative events are scheduled in Czatolin to mark the 85th anniversary of the Cichociemni paratroopers' drop at the ‘Ugór’ reception point. The event honors the historical airborne operations and partisan activities in the region.

On the night of November 7–8, 1941, as part of Operation ‘Ruction’, three individuals landed in Czatolin: Jan Piwnik (pseudonym ‘Ponury’), a prominent Home Army commander; Niemir Bidziński (pseudonym ‘Karol Ziege’); and civilian courier Napoleon Segieda (pseudonym ‘Wera’).

Ceremonies will begin at 13:00 at the Cichociemni monument with flower laying, candle lighting, and historical lectures. The event includes the 21st Cichociemni Home Army Soldiers Rally, involving walking and cycling groups. Participants will also visit the grave of Henryk Kocemba in Łyszkowice to honor his role as a deputy receiver during the 1941 operation.
