Polish World War II resistance commemorations

Overview

Poland has held various commemorative ceremonies honoring historical Polish resistance organizations and figures from World War II.

In Czatolin, events were organized to mark the 85th anniversary of the Cichociemni paratroopers' landing during Operation ‘Ruction’ in November 1941. The commemorations included flower laying, lectures, and a rally to honor individuals such as Home Army commander Jan Piwnik, Niemir Bidziński, and civilian courier Napoleon Segieda.

Additionally, ceremonies were held to mark the anniversary of Franciszek Kamiński’s appointment as commander of the Bataliony Chłopskie (Peasant Battalions) in 1940. These events, which included visits to the Bataliony Chłopskie Monument and the grave of General Kamiński in Warsaw, honored the second-largest Polish underground organization, which was composed largely of rural activists and engaged in sabotage and civilian protection.
