Czech car manufacturers boost first‑half output

Czech automobile producers reported a 4.4% rise in passenger‑car output in the first half of the year, reaching 780,000 vehicles. The sector’s president, Martin Jahn, said the "high production tempo reflects the ability to flexibly meet customer demand across all powertrains – from modern combustion engines to hybrids and pure electric cars. This flexibility, together with high productivity and quality, strengthens the Czech Republic’s position in the domestic and European automotive industry."

Škoda Auto led the increase, up 9.5% to 526,409 units, with electric and plug‑in hybrid models accounting for 25.3% of its output. Hyundai’s Nošovice plant fell 9.9% to 135,400 cars, roughly half of which were electrified. Toyota in Kolín produced 118,569 vehicles, a 1.8% year‑on‑year gain, and all its cars featured hybrid power.

Bus production grew 8.2% to 2,984 units, including 2,633 Iveco CR buses, 338 SOR Libchavy vehicles and 13 KHMC minibuses. Tatra Trucks built 803 trucks, exporting 452, while Jawa manufactured 444 motorcycles, of which 162 were sold locally. Trailer and semi‑trailer output reached 11,228 units, up 4.5% year‑on‑year.
