Czech Castles Hrad Kámen and Zruč Open New Exhibitions

The historic Hrad Kámen in the Vysočina region reopened to the public on 29 August with free admission after a 117 million CZK renovation. The castle now offers three guided routes, including a new exhibition of historic single‑track vehicles featuring a 1947 Jawa 250 motorcycle and a 1939 Premiér Sachs 98 motor‑cycle, restored in cooperation with the National Technical Museum. Additional restoration work reinstated original shutters, tiled stoves and created a modern visitor centre in a former brewery building.

Meanwhile, Zruč Castle near the River Sázava launched a revamped exhibition titled “Příběh řeky Sázavy” in a renovated cellar. The display, part of the 26th historic festivities, showcases forgotten river‑related crafts such as vorařství and ledařství and adds interactive elements for children, including puzzles, a mock fishing pond and a short film on the river’s history. Castle castellan Martina Fialová highlighted the upgrade, noting the move from a mold‑infested granary to the new space.
