Czech castles launch new exhibitions

In late July 2026 several historic Czech castles opened new public exhibitions that showcase different aspects of the nation’s heritage. Hrad Kámen in the Vysočina region reopened after a major renovation, offering free admission and guided routes that include a display of restored historic motorcycles such as a 1947 Jawa 250 and a 1939 Premiér Sachs 98. The castle also restored original architectural features and added a modern visitor centre.

Nearby Zruč Castle, overlooking the River Sázava, introduced a revamped exhibition titled “Příběh řeky Sázavy” in a renovated cellar. The exhibit highlights traditional river‑related crafts, interactive stations for children, and a short film on the river’s history.

At the same time, Jindřichův Hradec Castle announced an exhibition running from 1 August to 1 November that recreates a baroque imperial bedroom and displays items linked to Habsburg monarchs, including replicas of Czech coronation jewels and artifacts such as Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s uniform. The display aims to revive the castle’s historic role as a stop for emperors traveling between Vienna and Prague.

Together, these openings illustrate a coordinated effort by Czech heritage institutions to attract visitors, preserve cultural assets, and highlight diverse historical themes ranging from motor‑vehicle technology and river crafts to royal court life.
