Czech cinema honors veteran actor Vladimír Řepa and producer Jaroslav Bouček

Actor Vladimír Řepa (1900‑1970) spent his career on Czech stages and in film, becoming one of the most frequently cast character actors in Czechoslovakia. After early work in silent movies, he transitioned to sound cinema, appearing in titles such as Racek má zpoždění, where he finally received a leading role. He remained with the National Theatre and continued acting in numerous supporting parts until his death.

Producer Jaroslav Bouček, a veteran of Barrandov Studios and creator of more than twenty Czech Lion‑winning films, was inducted into the Producers Hall of Fame by the Association of Producers in Audiovisual (APA) at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The ceremony took place on 5 July at the Grand Hotel Ambassador, where he received a commemorative sculpture and addressed the audience, urging young filmmakers to focus on strong scripts. Bouček’s career spans classic TV series, acclaimed feature films, and a long‑standing role in the festival’s leadership.

Both figures exemplify the historical depth and contemporary recognition of Czech film culture.
