Czech cities advance major public transport terminal projects

Major transport infrastructure projects are underway in the Czech cities of Jihlava and Jablonec nad Nisou to modernize public transit hubs.

In Jihlava, the first part of the new Central Transport Terminal (CDT) has begun serving passengers. The city council has approved the procurement process for the second stage of construction, which will include a new bus station. This phase is expected to be completed by 2030, with documentation finalized by 2027. The current bus station, operated by ICOM transport, is expected to remain in use for several years while the company determines its future use for the site.

In Jablonec nad Nisou, construction has commenced on a new public transport terminal at the site of a former marketplace. The project, costing 471 million CZK, aims to integrate road and rail transport in the city center. The development has undergone several optimizations due to rising construction costs, including the removal of a planned footbridge and a rooftop cafe. A trial operation for the new terminal is scheduled to begin in September 2028.
