Czech cities Kroměříž and Ostrava begin major road repair projects

The municipal council of Kroměříž will start work at the end of June to renovate a 434‑metre stretch of Obvodová street between Spáčilova and U Rejdiště. The project, costing about 6 million Czech koruna, involves removing the existing surface, laying new pavement and replacing curbs, with partial closures and traffic managed by signals and a shuttle system. Work is slated to finish by 31 August, and the city plans further upgrades to other main roads later in the year.

In Ostrava, the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) will fully close Cingrův street, part of the I/56 corridor, from the evening of 19 June until the evening of 21 June. The repair, valued at roughly 3.7 million CZK, targets an unsatisfactory road surface and will be carried out in daylight and night hours to accelerate completion. Drivers will be diverted via marked detours. The closure is also linked to a larger, long‑term plan to expand the I/56 segment to four lanes and add a semi‑open gallery between several city bridges.
