Czech cities prepare for Advent festivities and Christmas tree lighting

Several Czech cities are preparing for their annual Advent celebrations and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

In Kroměříž, the traditional lighting ceremony has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 29, to allow more residents and visitors to attend. The event on Velké náměstí will include the opening of the ‘Šťastné a veselé’ Christmas market, which will feature various crafts, seasonal treats, and decorations. The cultural program includes performances by local folklore groups and dance clubs, a St. Nicholas show, and a concert by singer Petr Bende.

In Liberec, the festive season begins on Friday, November 20, with the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the town hall. The celebration will feature a performance by the band O’Band, followed by the lighting at 17:00. The city's Advent program includes various musical acts such as Verona and Hitfakers, as well as traditional caroling and creative workshops held at Dr. E. Beneš Square and Soukenné náměstí.
