Czech cities prepare for Advent with new holiday programs

Several Czech cities are finalizing their preparations for the upcoming Advent and Christmas season.

In Písek, the local culture center is introducing several new attractions to its holiday program. These include a light tunnel leading to the museum, a Friday advent cinema, a New Year's concert, and a Christmas train that will operate at the town square during craft markets. The holiday market stalls will feature rotating vendors managed by REMA living, allowing local entrepreneurs to change the goods offered on a weekly basis. The popular ice rink on the Great Square will remain free of charge, with installation beginning on November 12 and opening to the public on November 29.

In Karviná, the city is expanding its Christmas lighting to include more areas based on citizen requests. The municipality has invested approximately 1.5 million CZK in new decorations, which include 90 light snowflakes to be placed on public lighting poles along various routes. Additional lighting will be installed near the magistrate building, the historic center, and around St. Mark's Church. Christmas trees are scheduled to arrive on November 14 for decoration.
