Czech coronation jewels on display at Prague Castle

The Czech coronation jewels are currently on public display at Prague Castle in the Vladislav Hall of the Old Royal Palace. The exhibition, which runs from September 19 to September 28, 2026, is free to the public and has drawn large crowds of tourists and locals.

This specific exhibition, subtitled ‘Habsburg 500’, commemorates the 500th anniversary of the beginning of Habsburg rule on the Czech throne. It traces the history of the insignia from the accession of Ferdinand I in 1526 through the end of the 18th century, including their movement to Vienna during the Thirty Years' War and their eventual return to Prague in 1791.

The collection includes the St. Wenceslas Crown, created under Emperor Charles IV, the royal scepter, the orb, and the coronation mantle. The St. Wenceslas Crown is noted for its significant weight of nearly 2.5 kilograms and is adorned with 96 gemstones and 20 pearls.
