Czech D5 Highway to Undergo Half‑Billion CZK Renovation from July to October 2026
The Czech Republic’s D5 motorway will be fully refurbished over a roughly ten‑kilometre stretch between exit 100 near Heřmanova Huta and kilometre 110 toward Rozvadov. Work, scheduled from early July to the end of October 2026, includes complete replacement of the road surface, drainage improvements, repairs to under‑passage culverts, bridge works, fence renewal and a new retaining system for the central barrier. The contract, worth 577.3 million CZK, was awarded to a consortium of MI Roads, Colas CZ and Hochtief CZ. Construction will be phased: the first week focuses on emergency drainage on the right lane; the second phase, finishing by early August, will replace sewer pipes using trenchless methods while closing the left lane; the final phase will repave the surface and close the left lane entirely. Traffic will be diverted onto the remaining lanes and unpaved shoulders during each stage.
