Czech Deputy Barbora Urbanová visits Kyiv to discuss military aid

Barbora Urbanová, Vice-President of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, visited Kyiv to meet with Olena Kondratyuk, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Parliament. During the meeting, Kondratyuk expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Czech Republic since 2022, specifically highlighting the ammunition initiative that has supplied Ukraine with large-caliber artillery shells.

Kondratyuk noted that Urbanová visited to witness firsthand how Kyiv continues to function under Russian shelling and to explore further ways the Czech Republic could support Ukraine. The visit follows a previous rejection by the Czech Chamber's organizational committee regarding Urbanová's request for travel approval, a decision Speaker Tomio Okamura denied was politically motivated. While the current Czech government coalition has expressed opposition to weapon funding, Okamura stated that approximately 140 million CZK has been sent to the PURL initiative to facilitate the purchase of U.S.-made munitions for Ukraine.
