Czech design festivals to showcase architecture and light

Two major design and architecture festivals are scheduled to take place in the Czech Republic in October 2026 and 2024 respectively.

In the Liberec Region, Architecture Day will run from October 1 to 7, 2026, under the theme ‘Bydlím, tedy jsem’ (I live, therefore I am). The program includes access to previously closed sites in cities such as Liberec, Turnov, and Jablonce nad Nisou. Highlights include a tour of the newly renovated Lesní koupaliště, a visit to the 1961 experimental prefab house of Karel Hubáček, and presentations on urban development at Papírové náměstí.

In Prague, the 28th edition of DesignBlok will be held from October 7 to 11, focusing on the theme of light. The festival will feature over 300 authors and brands, with key locations including the National Gallery’s Veletržní palác and the reconstructed Průmyslový palác. Notable participants include Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, who will receive an award for his contribution to global design, and British designer Lee Broom, who will present a light installation in collaboration with the Czech brand Brokis.
